ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - The Sartell Muskies opened up their season with a non-league of Victory League power Lastrup. They topped the Lastrup crew twice in 7 inning games, 11-6 with Adam Wenker getting the win for his work and Travis Weaver earned the save. Tony Schmitz had the big blow for the Muskies a three run homer and Andrew Deters was 2-2 with two runs scored. The second game they came away with a 3-2 win with Dave Schlangen getting the pitching win for the Muskies. Tony Schmitz had a solo homer to break a 2-2 tie. Rob Voshell also had a solo homer for the Muskies.


The Clear Lake Lakers topped Sauk Valley League foe Litchfield 12-6 in their opener. Sam Iten picked up the pitching win with six strike outs. Chase Aleshire led the way going 2-4 with 4 RBI's and a stolen base. Dave Burkholder was 2-4, Jake Samelson was 2-4, Sam Iten was 2-4 and Rich Petty went 2-4 with 2 RBI's.


The Kimball Express topped Central Valley rival the Watkins Clippers 10-1. Adam Dingman was the winning pitcher for his work. Ben Johnson led the way with his bat as he went 6-6 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI'S. Scott Marquardt had another very good day with his 3-5 performance including a double.


The Avon Lakers dropped another Victory League game to their rival Freeport 13-8. Troy Wunderlich took the loss in his effort and Taylor Holthaus led the way for the Lakers with his 3-3 performance. Luke Manthe also was 2-4 with 2 runs scored.


The Cold Spring Rockies topped Central Valley rival Luxenburg 19-10.  Rick Burtzel had the big blow for the Rockies with a 3 run homer and 6 runs scored. David Jonas had 5 hits including a double and 2 RBI's. Mitch Ergen took the pitching loss for the Brewers. Isaac Matchinsky led the way for the Brewers going 3-4 with 5 RBI's including a home run. Derek Orth went 2-4 with a double, Colton Fruth went 2-4, Austin Cicatti went 2-2 with 3 walks, Ethan Fruth went 4-5 and Austin Klaverkamp went 2-4 with 2 RBI'S.


St. Augusta Guzzies dropped a game last Saturday to Class B power Moorhead Brewers 1-0 in a great game and they tied the Class B St. Cloud Beaudreau's Saints (Former Snappers) 10-10. The Guzzies dropped their league opener to Central Valley League rival Eden Valley Hawks 7-5. Zach Laundenbach took the pitching loss. Marcus Lommel went 2-5, Nate Gwost was 2-5, Aaron Fruth 2-5, Adam Gwost was 1-5 with 1 RBI and  Dave Fritz led the way with a 2-4 performance including one double and two 2 RBI'S.
