We don't have many games to report on this week because of the wet weather, there were many postponements or cancellations. The Highway 55 Tourney was called off because of the heavy rains, that tourney alone involved four teams from our area.

Schedule of Events:


• 11 a.m. - Food and beverage stands open


• 12:30 p.m. - Cold Spring Silver Springers vs. Richmond Royals (7 innings)


• 2:45 p.m. - Cold Spring Rockies vs. New Munich Silver Streaks (7 innings)


• 5 p.m. - Cold Spring Springers vs. Lake Henry Lakers (7 innings)


• 8 p.m. - The Fabulous Armadillos Concert


(Note: If desired, bring a chair to sit on during the concert)




Cost: $20.00


This fee includes admission to all games & The Fabulous Armadillos concert.


The concert will be a rain or shine event.


Tickets for all three games only will be sold at the ballpark the day of the event for $10

The Springers of Cold Spring topped the Lakers of Heron Lake in their first round game of the Highway 55 Tourney 10-0. Mathias Butula was the winning pitcher, he was outstanding, just giving up 2 hits and he had 10 strike outs in 5 innings. His brother Chris gave him all support that he needed. He went 2-2 with a 3 run homer , single and a sacrifice fly for 5 RBI's.  They were rained out the rest of the tourney as well as the league game with the Cyclones of Sauk Rapids, no make up date has not been announced for that game.

The Brewers of Luxemburg had a very good weekend with a win over Victory League foe Farming 10-8. Casey Underwood was the starting pitcher, he worked 4 innings and had 5 strike outs, Austin Klaverkamp was the pitcher of record throwing 2 innings, he recorded 3 strike outs. John Fish earned the save with 3 innings of work, he recorded 2 strikeouts. Greg Terres had a big game as he went 2-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's, Luke Harren had his first amateur home run for 2 RBI's. Isaac Matchinsky went 2-3 with a double and 2 RBI's and Austin Klaverkamp went 1-2 with a double and 1 RBI. Tanner Skaja went 3-4 with a double and 2 RBI's, Corey Wenz was 1-4 with a RBI and John Fish went 2-4.

The Brewers had a great game in a win over Central Valley League foe Pearl Lake 9-0, Mitch Ergen earned the win with 7 innings of work. They had a total of 19 hits with Greg Terres having a big game as he went 3-4 with a RBI, Austin Klaverkamp went 3-5 with a double, stolen base and 2 RBI'is, Isaac Matchinsky went 3-3 with a double and an RBI. Derrick Orth went 2-5 with a double and a RBI and Austin Cicatti went 2-5 and he scored 2 runs.

The Express of Kimball topped County Line foe Regal in their first round game of the Highway 55 Tourney 4-1. Ben Johnson earned the win with 7 innings of solid work, he record 8 strikeouts. Matt Dingmann went 1-2 with a triple and 2 RBI's, Austin Ruehle went 1-2 with a triple and a RBI and Adam Byer went 1-3 with a double. In the second round of the tourney they dropped a 1-0 game to the No. 8 ranked Class C team in Minnesota; Fairmont. Zach Dingmann took the loss with 7 very good innings  as he scattered just 5 hits and he had 6 strikeouts. Zach Dingmann was 2-3, Scot Marquardt rwas 1-3 and Kyle Winter was 1-3 with a double.

The Lakers of Clear Lake topped Hibbing 10-0 in the first round of the Highway 55 Tournament and Matt Korte's fine pitching performance, as he earned the win and gave up only 2 hits.  Rich Petty was 1-3 with 2 RBI's, Sam Iten went 1-3 with a RBI and a stolen base. Matt Korte was 2-2 with 2 runs scored, Andrew Setrum, 2 walks, hit by pitch and 2 runs scored, Brett Watercott had 2 RBI's and a stolen base and Kyle Sytsma was 1-2 with a run scored.

The Stone Poneys topped Central Valley League foe Watkins 5-3 in the first round of the Highway 55 Tourney. Jeff Amann went 5 1/3 innings and Rob Garbrielson earned the save with 3 2/3 innings of work of very solid relief work. Austin Timm went 3-5 with a double and a triple, Jim Gabrielson went 2-4 with a RBI and Jordan Clitty went 2-5 with a RBI. The Poneys were forced to forfeit their second game of the tournament.

The Rockies of Cold Spring topped Stearns County League rival Richmond 4-1, behind Blaine Athmann's solid pitching outing with 7 innings of work, he scattered just 5 hits. Mike Ficker had a RBI single, Marshall Wirtzfeld had a double and Reece Hemmesch scored on a double steal.

The Lakers of Avon had a big win over Victory South League foe St. Stephen 4-2, Adam Harlander was the winning pitcher, as he worked 5 innings and scattered just 4 hits. Scott Litchy earned the save with 4 innings of relief. Rick Hendrickson had a big game as he went 4-5 with 2 runs scored and a stolen base. Matt Meyer went 2-4 with a RBI, Taylor Holthaus had a double and a RBI and Luke Manthe went 2-4 with a RBI.
