The Cold Spring Springers topped the Avon Lakers from the Victory league 14-3 with Zach Femrite getting the pitching win. Justin Thompson threw three very strong innings of relief. Chris Butala had a walk off grand slam to end the game in the seventh inning. The Springers leading hitters were Joe Dempsey with three hits and Drew Vanloy had two hits. Alex Geislinger and Tyler Geislinger each had one hit. Adam Harlander took the loss for the Lakers. Scott Litchy was 2-3 with one run scored.


On Sunday May 18th the Springers traveled to Maple Lake to take on North Star League power and State Class C power Maple Lake Lakers.  The State 2012 Class C state champions topped the Springers 4-3 in a very good ball game. Tyler Geislinger pitched 5 impressive innings, scattering 3 hits. Chris Butula took the pitching loss for the Springers. They Springers had ten hits; led by Ben Griffin with 3 including one double, Drew Vanloy with two hits, including one double and Zach Hinkemeyer had 2 hits.


The St. Cloud Beaudreau's topped Big Lake 13-6 on Wednesday May 14. Garrett Anderson was the winning pitcher with 6 innings of work and 9 strikeouts and only 1 hit. Brad Haag was the leading hitter as he went 3-4 with a double, walk and 2 RBI's, Dave Carlson had 4 walks and a double. J. Schleicher was 1-2 with 3 walks. The Big Lake pitching staff gave up a total of 20 walks in this game.

The St. Cloud Beaudreau's Saints went 2-1 at the Freeport "Black Sox" Invitational with a pair of wins over Belle Plaine 6-1 and over the North Saint Paul Roosters 2-1. The Roosters are a Class A team, it was an impressive win for the Saints. In the championship they came up short to Spring Hill 5-2. In the Belle Plaine game the winning pitcher was D. J. Schleicher as he three 5 innings and scattered three hits. Chis Koenig got the Save with 2 innings of work. The Saints had a total of 12 hits, Nick Hengel was 2-4 with a RBI, Reese Gregory was 2-3 with two RBI's Garrett Anderson 2-4 , Chad Hockemeyer was 2-4 with a RBI, Doug Keeler 1-2 with 1 RBI. In the Roosters game Brad Haag got the pitching win with 5 very good innings and Reese Gregory got the save. Nick Hengel led the way with a double and 2 RBI's and Chad Hockemeyer and Will Spaniel each had a hit. Nick Maiers was the pitcher of record against Spring Hill. Nick Maiers and Dave Carlson were both 1-3 with one double.

The Class C State Champions had a clash on Wednesday May 14 with the 2012 state champions coming out on top; Maple Lake defeated the 2013 champions Sartell 9-4. Adam Wenker took the pitching loss for the Muskies. The Muskies had four hits against the Maple Lake pitching. Look for another possible matchup between these two teams in late August.

I am very sorry I left the Luxemburg Brewers game out of last weeks report. The Brewers did defeat Central Valley league foe Pearl Lake 10-6. Mitch Ergen was the winning pitcher. Greg Terres led the way with one homer and 4 RBI's, with strong support from Isaac Matchinsky as he went 3-5 with 3 RBI's including one double. Cory Wenz was 1-5 with 2 RBI's and Colton Fruth was 2-6 including a stolen base.


The Brewers had another big league win over St. Nickolas 2-0. Nick Baker had a very impressive pitching performance with 13 strike outs and only 3 hits given up. Brice Adelmeyer got the save for the Brewers. Ethan Fruth was 2-4 in a RBI, Tanner Skaja was 2-4 with a RBI to led the way. Austin Cicatti was 3-4 with 1 run scored, Isaac Mathinsky was 1-4 and Austin Klavercamp was 2-4.

The Brewers defeated Central Valley league foe Eden Valley 5-4 with Luke Harren getting the pitching win with 8 innings of work including 6 strikeouts and Mitch Ergen got the save. Greg Terres had a two run homer and Austin Klaverkamp had a solo homer. Colton Fruth was 1-4 with a run scored, Cory Wentz was 1-1 with 2 walks and 1 run scored.

The Rockies topped two Central Valley league foes over the weekend,  St. Nickolas 6-0 and Eden Valley 12-9. Blaine Athmann was the winning pitcher in the St. Nickolas game. Kevin Wenner was 3-5 with 1 double and 1 triple, Marshall Wirtzfield was 2-4 with 2 RBI's and Mike Ficker was 2-5. There no details available on the Eden Valley game.

The Kimball Express had two big wins; they defeated North Star power Dassel Cokato 5-3. Matt Dingmann got the pitching win and Andy Dingmann got the save. Adam Beyer was 2-5 with a RBI, Scott Marguardt 2-5 with a RBI, Austin Ruehle was 2-4 with 2 runs scored, Brooks Marguardt was 1-3 with 2 runs and 2 walks. Ben Johnson had a give sacrafice for an RBI.

The Express topped Central Valley rival Pearl Lake 5-3 with Zach Dingmann getting the win and Ben Johnson recorded the save. Austin Ruehle had a huge day as he went 4-4 with 2 doubles and 1 RBI. Jordan Joseph was 2-4 with 2 doubles and 2 runs. Brook Marquardt and Ben Johnson each had 1 RBI.

The Clear Lake Lakers dropped a Sauk Valley league game to Foley 3-1. Matt Korte was the pitcher of record as he threw 9 innings including 9 strikeouts. Kyle Sytsma and Jason Kotschevar were both 2-4 for the Lakers.

The Avon Lakers had two big Victory league wins over the weekend; they topped St. Stephen 5-3 and Flensburg 7-5. Cody Stich got the pitching win over St. Stephen and Scott Litchy the save. Dave Kalthoff had 2 RBI's, Scott Litchy was 1-2 with two stolen bases and 1 run. Reed Voit was 2-3 with 1 run and Rick Hendrickson was 1-4. Adam Harlander got the pitching win with 8 strikeouts and Matt Meyer the save. Taylor was also 3-4 with 1 double, Matt Meyer was 2-4, Rick Hendrickson was 2-4 and Reed Voit was 1-4 in the Flensburg win.

The Joe's of St. Joseph had a big win over Sauk Valley rival Litchfield 13-3 with Alex Kendall getting the win with 6 strikeouts. Caz Novak led the way as he went 3-5 with 2 RBI's. Joe Barrett was 2-4, Alex Kendall 2-4, Aaron Rocheleau 2-3 and Bubba Hollenhorst was 2 for 2.

The Gussies of St. Augusta topped Central Valley rival Watkins 9-6 with Zack Laudenbach getting the win was he gave up only 2 hits in 6 innings and Aaron Frutt got the save. The leading hitters were Brady Grafft 3-4, David Fritz 2-4 and Zack Laudenbach was 2-4.

The Stone Poneys topped Eastern Minny league rival Quamba 4-3. Adam Lotthammer had an impressive performance with 9 strikeouts for the win and Jeff Amann got the save. Rob Gabrielson was the leading hitter, as he went 3-4 with 1 RBI and Jim Gabrielson was 1-3 with one RBI.
