ANAHEIM, Calif. (KNSI) - The Anaheim Ducks announced Saturday the NHL club signed St. Cloud State junior goaltender Ryan Faragher to a one-year entry-level contract. Faragher is assigned to the Ducks' primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL), the Norfolk Admirals.

Due to the injury to Ducks' rookie goalie Frederik Andersen on Friday night, the Norfolk Admirals' John Gibson was recalled by Anaheim to back up Jonas Hiller, sending the Ducks on an impromptu hunt to sign a worthy free agent collegiate goaltender.

Faragher played in 98 career games for St. Cloud State and made at least 23 appearances in net in each season from 2011 to this past season. He leaves St. Cloud State with a career 2.49 goals-against average, .911 save percentage and five shutouts. In 2013-14, Farahger was named to the All-NCHC Second Team at goaltender. He charted a 2.79 goals against average this season that included a .905 save rate. Faragher made 891 saves and also posted a 20-9-4 record this winter.

Faragher went 53-34-8 as the Huskies' goaltender for three seasons and he ranks second in the team records for most career wins.

The 6-2, 200-pound Fort Frances, Ontario native backed up Norfolk's Brad Thiessen Saturday night at Binghamton in the 6-3 Norfolk victory. Faragher was not called upon and has yet to make his professional debut.
