ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - A lot of people came out on Saturday to share memories of Tom Bearson and raise money for the foundation that bears his name.

The 3rd Annual Tom Bearson Foundation Golf Outing was held at Blackberry Ridge Golf Club in Sartell.

The Sartell High School grad was murdered in September of 2014, just weeks into his freshman year at North Dakota State University. His body was found in an RV park in Moorhead.

"We will get justice, so for now we just gotta keep smiling, keep golfing and hang in there...we'll be alright, but events like this help out a lot," said Jackson Miller, Tom's friend since the 7th grade.

"We don't want his legacy to ever be forgotten, because he was one of the greatest humans you'll ever meet in your life."

Tom's dad, Greg Bearson, says his son had a great sense of humor and loved to have fun.

"So the best way to remember Tom is to try and have fun, and he would want us to do that, so I think we're being true to what Tom would want and that's a good thing."

Greg says money raised by the Tom Bearson Foundation has already done some great things for the community such as an $80,000 remodel of the St. Francis Xavier gymnasium in Sartell that includes some granite pieces with a saying from Tom and his picture.

The foundation has also raised money for basketball camps, a youth retreat for high school seniors and various scholarships.

As the 3rd anniversary of his son's death approaches, Greg remains confident justice will be done.

"The investigation is still very active, and there's a lot of things going on. Both Debbie and I remain very confident that they're moving in the right direction and that ultimately there will be justice for our son Tom."
