ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - Hundreds of people came out to Blackberry Ridge Golf Club on Saturday for the 2nd Annual Tom Bearson Foundation Golf Outing.

The event is in memory of Tom Bearson, a former standout on the Sartell Sabre's basketball team who was murdered less than one month into his freshman year at North Dakota State University in 2014.

The 18-year-old's body was found in an RV lot in Moorhead.

Investigators still aren't saying much about the details surrounding Bearson's death, other than he died of "homicidal violence".

But the hundreds of people who attended the golf outing weren't thinking about Tom's death, they were celebrating his life.

"The whole day is designated to Tom, everybody's thoughts are towards him, and it's just a time when we all think of him," said Alex and Patrick, two of Tom's best high school friends.

We asked the two about their best memories of their friend.

"On the basketball court and just getting after it, the Whitney Center, and that elbow jumper that he hit in Sartell comes to mind right away."

Alex and Patrick say, while their friendship with Tom started on the court, it carried on off the court.

Tom's parents, Greg and Debbie, say it's very special to have so many great friends and community members attend the event at the same course they played many rounds of golf with their son.

As for the length of the investigation, the two say they remain very confident in the multiple agencies investigating Tom's death, and know their son's killer will eventually be caught.

The golf outing started in a thunderstorm, but after a few hours the skies totally cleared and it turned into a beautiful day.

"I feel like Tom had something to do with that a little bit," said Tom's friend Patrick.
